AWIS aims to provide support for ALL students, staff, and faculty interested in the topic of promoting equality for women in STEM, regardless of gender or major, including gender-queer and male members of the Amherst community. The Amherst College affiliate group of AWIS was started in the spring of 2015 with the goal of acting as an umbrella organization for student-led, inclusive STEM initiatives at the college.
