In their own words
Archery is statistically one of the world’s safest sports. According to recent National Safety Council statistics, archery is more than three times safer than golf... and in fact, over 90% of injuries occur while bowhunting, not target shooting
Archery is perhaps the world’s most inclusive sport -- few activities let you begin when you’re tall enough to hold a bow and keep you shooting at age 90. Likewise, few sports accommodate people with injuries and disabilities as well as archery can... and although strength is important at longer distances, having less of it is certainly not going to stop you from enjoying yourself and improving
Archery (recurve) is featured at both the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games
We provide equipment and training in the barebow discipline (indoor and outdoor), but you are very welcome to bring your equipment (compound/Olympic/etc.) and practice with us!
We shoot weekly at a range in Florence, MA, and occasionally in the basement of Tyler! All practices are completely optional!
We go to competitions as demand and skill dictates!
The national governing body of archery is USA Archery, and the international governing body is World Archery
To get added to the mailing list/GroupMe, request to join! We are open to all Amherst College students, faculty, and staff.
